Privacy policy
Cap Sept helps you prepare for the TCF Canada French test. This page explains what the app stores, who processes it and how to delete it. We do not sell your data, show ads or use advertising or analytics trackers.
What stays on your phone
Your answers, scores, exam settings and speaking recordings are saved on your device so the app works offline. Speaking recordings are only uploaded when you ask for an AI score (see below).
What we store on our servers
- An account identifier. The app creates an anonymous guest account the first time it connects. If you choose to sign in with Google, we also receive your email address and name from Google.
- Your progress: exam date, target level, practice and exam results, and the texts you write for the writing section, so your progress can follow you to a new device.
- Problem reports you send from the app.
- AI usage records: when you request an AI score we record the date, the type of scoring and its technical cost, to enforce the free allowance and fair-use limits. We do not keep your recordings.
Our database runs on servers rented from OVHcloud in France.
AI scoring
When you ask for a writing or speaking score, your text, or your recording, is sent to our scoring service and on to OpenAI, which transcribes recordings and grades the answer. Recordings are processed in memory and not stored by us. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models and may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse, under its API data policy.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Google Play; we never see your card details. RevenueCat records which plan your account has (purchase dates, renewal status and the store's transaction identifiers) so access works on every device.
Service providers
- OVHcloud (hosting, France)
- OpenAI (speech transcription and AI scoring)
- RevenueCat (purchase records)
- Google (sign-in with Google, Google Play billing)
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account and everything we store for it at any time: in the app, open Settings and choose “Delete my account”. Instructions, including how to ask without the app, are on the account deletion page. Deleting the app alone removes what is on your phone but not your account.
Children
The app is meant for adults preparing for an immigration language test and is not directed at children under 16.
Your rights and contact
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction or its deletion by email at support@ysylabs.com. If we change this policy, we will update the date above.
